The Durfee Buffinton Insurance Agency traces its origins through a number of agencies back to 1843. The agency was originally established by James N. Buffinton after the “Great Fall River Fire” when he saw a need for more insurance agencies in the area.
In 1923 the agency was named The James N. Buffinton Company. In 1959, Walter A. Brown Jr. merged it with The Durfee Agency, Inc. to form its current name.
Since the early 1970’s, Durfee Buffinton Insurance Agency has grown in size from 6 employees to 17 full-time employees, and in 1986 Walter A. Brown III took the helm as president of the agency.
Our mission has always been to provide insurance products and services to individuals and businesses that safeguard their assets from financial loss.
The current principals of the agency are Walter Brown III, President, Douglas Brown, Vice President, Douglas Barresi, and Christopher Brown.
